Congratulations to South River’s

2017 National Merit Scholarship

Finalists

Tatiana Wu

and

Mihailo Rancic

The National Merit Scholarship Corportation (NMSC) named two SRHS Seniors for recognition as semi-finalists for National Merit Scholarships.  These academically talented young women now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for a share of 7,500 National Merit Scholarships to be offered in the spring.

About 1.6 million students nationwide entered the National Merit Scholarship competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMQT) in October of their Junior year.  Those who scored highest in the state, proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation-wide total of graduating seniors, are selected as semi-finalists.

Finalists for Merit Scholar awards are selected based on their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies, without regard for race, gender, ethnic origin or religious preference.psast-scholarships
