South River High School’s award-winning magazine, Etchings, is a collection of literature, art, and music, designed and created entirely by students. It offers students a vehicle for self-expression, through participation in hands-on work in writing, editing, publishing and applied technology using computer software.
Fiction, nonfiction and poetry of a personal, humorous or satirical nature are encouraged and considered for publication.
Echings “A Journal,” published in 2015, won the Gold Award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association, First Place with Special Merit from the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA) and First Place in the Nation for Cover Art from ASPA. The cover art was designed by Sophie Nolan, Class of 2015.
Submissions of poetry, short stories, paintings, photography, pottery, lyrics, and music are open to all students.
