Dance Company

The Dance Company is an after-school performing arts group.  Members are selected through auditions held in September and February.  Minimum requirements include a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Dance members are required to take the Dance Company class as part of their regular academic schedule.  The course is weighted as Honors level.

Students are required to participate in after-school rehearsals and will explore dance in all its forms, including ballet, modern, jazz, tap and musical theater techniques and will have an opportunity to choreograph.

Performances include evening programs at SRHS, the Anne Arundel County Dance Festival and the Maryland State High School Dance Showcase.

SRHS also offers instruction in dance to ANY student. Students who do not meet the requirements for Dance Company, may select Dance I-IV, or Dance for Athletes as course options.

There are no prerequisites for any of the dance classes, except Dance Company. All students enrolled in dance are required to perform in a mandatory concert at the end of the semester.

Senior & Junior Dance Company

Senior and Junior Dance Company is for technically advanced dancers and participants are selected by audition. Dance Company members rehearse after school and are required to perform in all concerts and all dance festivals. They must be technically proficient in ballet, modern, jazz, and tap.
