Special Programs

South River High School offers a number of outstanding programs of special interest to students and the community.  These include:

AVID – Advancement Via Individual Determination, an accelerated academic program designed to provide support to students who are in the academic “middle.”

STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Magnet Program, a specially designed program that engages students in a hands-on approach to learning through real world problem solving with an emphasis on the use of technology and engineering principles.

GCPA Signature – Global Communications & Public Affairs Signature Program, is designed to connect classroom instruction with real world situations using workforce-based skills.  This program teams local business and community leaders with educators in the school to make classroom instruction relevant, interesting and challenging.

Lil Seahawks Preschool Program, is a developmental educational program for children who are 4 to 5 years old that provide instruction and training for high school student in the development, care and education of preschool aged children.

Olweus Bullying Prevention, was instituted to improve the social climate of classrooms, reduce vandalism and truancy and stop bullying behaviors.

AACPS Wellness & Health Program – making fitness a priority for students, staff and school supporters.
